Life stories from the Oral History and Folklore collection of The National Library of Australia
Introduction
by Rob Willis
It would be nice to revisit everyone that we record for The National Library but unfortunately the logistics of this are impossible. The reason for returning is that the initial visit promotes memories that only emerge after we have gone. So often there has been a phone call a week or so after a visit remembering a song or story.
Then there are the people that we know that we MUST return and see, those that have a wealth of information that is waiting to be tapped. The first of our stories this issue is about one such person Lola Wright of Morundah NSW.
Bruce Cameron and Russel Hannah gave us an insight into Lola last edition (have a look if you missed it) and we just had to go back.
John Harpley and myself re-visited Lola in February (2002).
Our second tale is about Jim Simpson of Nariel and we look at the folklore of craft and also the ingenuity of the Australia bushman under harsh circumstance.
Till next time.
